Balance is in Your Hands

Updated: Jun 12, 2020

Good mental wellbeing has the power to transform and energize your life experience. Yet the average person has no "innerstanding” of what mental health is. This is why a mental revolution is needed. To set this mind expansion into play, we ask you to give mental wellbeing focus for the month of May (Mental Health Awareness Month). You will be amazed at the shift in your energy and the outward results in your life.

To get grounded, here’s the World Health Organization’s definition of mental health: “a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community” This is a great definition, especially when we dive into what it really means. It means each person has tapped into the unique gift that is theirs alone to share with the world. Normal stressors of life are handled with balance - without the extreme of being frozen by fear, and with the ability to adapt to new normals. There is a fluid flow to a life where dreams and goals are accomplished with Grace. We understand that we are on this planet to help each other by bringing our unique piece of the puzzle to lay upon the table of humanity. In true mental wellbeing, we are cognizant that we are an integral part of the greater whole.

As abnormal stressors come (such as the current global pandemic's tolls on life, fixed structure, and economics), we can still respond productively and fruitfully, and make contributions to our self and community. This means using mental wellbeing to stay deeply rooted in balance by swaying like a healthy tree during a storm. We are being called to shift, to reflect, re-frame, and re-prioritize. We will create viable solutions. We have that power. While change is inevitable, balance and self mastery is our birthright. Mental balance and self mastery have similar attributes. They both are:

  • a state of awareness or clarity in the moment,

  • a state of being that gives you freedom to move spontaneously,

  • the ability to respond to what is needed in the moment with the appropriate action (or inaction),

  • not static and subject to upgrades as we learn more, and

  • manifested in the state of being present.

All the above lead to living your best life — truly worthy of focus. Wouldn’t you agree? So since May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and there's probably been no time like the present in our lives where poor mental health is so epidemic, let's start a Mental Health Revolution. I've put together a self-help book, called "Balance is a Juggling Act (c), A Journal for Mental Health Revolution", to guide us in this journey to be mental revolutionaries. You can purchase the e-book version in products. All proceeds from purchases during Mental Health Awareness Month will go to the Young Tiger Foundation, an nonprofit organization I founded after my son's death by suicide to promote needed education in mental wellbeing.
